ERASMUS + | Healthy EAT: Empowering families to adopt healthy lifestyle
The Healthy EAT project, an Erasmus+ initiative, aims to empower families and children to adopt healthy and sustainable lifestyles in order to tackle childhood obesity.
Project objectives
- Combat misinformation by equipping families with critical thinking skills and evidence-based resources to make informed food choices, reducing the influence of marketing strategies and social media trends.
- Promote prevention through early awareness by improving food literacy and encouraging sustainable healthy behaviours, while helping to prevent weight-related discrimination and emotional distress.
- Strengthen the role of health and social educators by providing them with training and practical tools to better support families and promote a positive food culture.
- Enhance families’ practical skills, including reading food labels, planning balanced meals on a budget and resisting commercial pressures, to help create a supportive home environment.
Healthy EAT addresses these gaps by adopting a family-centred, practical approach to childhood obesity prevention. The project equips parents and educators with evidence-based tools tailored to real-life constraints, strengthening prevention efforts across diverse socio-economic contexts.
