INTERREG France-Wallonie-Vlaanderen - Trans-Training: Promoting access to employment in biocontrol by providing appropriate training and encouraging entrepreneurship.

The aim of the INTERREG Trans-Training project, led by the University of Lille, is to boost skills and employability in the biocontrol sector, by offering cross-border training and raising awareness of entrepreneurship in this forward-looking field for more sustainable agriculture.

Objectives of the project

Trans-Training’s main objective is to link advances in biocontrol research to the needs of users (farmers, distributors, students, jobseekers, people undergoing retraining) through :

  • Initial and continuing training courses incorporating the latest scientific developments.
  • Disseminating innovative teaching materials.
  • Raising awareness of entrepreneurship in biocontrol.
  • Support for professional retraining and access to skilled employment.

Why is Trans-Training essential?

Meeting agricultural and employment challenges

Fungal diseases and insect pests have a major impact on cross-border crops. Biocontrol, based on natural solutions, is a sustainable alternative supported by the European Green Pact. Trans-Training aims to structure this job-creating sector by making it more accessible through appropriate training schemes.

A tangible impact for learners and those involved in biocontrol

Trans-Training will offer :

  • Practical and theoretical training in biocontrol, aimed at a variety of audiences.
  • Workshops to raise awareness about setting up a business.
  • Cross-border events to encourage exchanges between researchers, professionals and learners.
  • Internships for students to facilitate mobility and professional encounters.

A cross-border approach

The project involves partners from France, Wallonia and Flanders, with a view to pooling practices and disseminating innovations more widely. It is structured around 6 work modules with targeted objectives depending on the audience concerned. The aim of this collaborative approach is to develop skills in a coordinated way across the whole of the FWVL Interreg area.

What will Trans-Training bring?

  1. Teaching aids updated in line with the results of 5 scientific projects in the Biocontrol 4.0 portfolio.
  2. Tools for sharing best practice.
  3. Events: B2B/B2C meetings, challenges, themed seminars.
  4. A web platform for sharing content and exchanges between participants.
